22 Years with Uttlesford Community Travel

With 17 vehicle conversions and a relationship spanning over 22 years, we were delighted to deliver our 18th wheelchair accessible vehicle to our friends at Uttlesford Community Travel.

The latest vehicle to join Uttlesford CT’s impressive fleet is based on the Mercedes Sprinter L4H2 which can facilitate up to 15 passengers or 5 wheelchairs with seats removed. Inside, the new minibus features colourful blue patterned seating, our exclusive low-entry fold-out side step and an internal tail lift.

Who are Uttlesford Community Travel?

Uttlesford Community Travel are a fantastic charity based in Essex who provide fully accessible transport services to the residents of Uttlesford who either find it difficult to access public transport, are over the age of 60, are disabled or are rurally isolated. Their minibuses are available to transport passengers to a variety of locations including shopping trips, medical appointments or even visits to friends and family. All of Uttlesford CT’s minibuses are wheelchair accessible and their drivers are fully trained and DBS checked to help assist passengers if required.

The Design Process

Each Stanfords conversion is entirely handcrafted, from start to finish, by a team of just two highly skilled coachbuilders. This unique process allows us to supply customers, like Uttlesford CT, with a minibus designed specifically around their organisation. Over the years, we have worked closely with Uttlesford Community Travel to create their perfect minibus, take a look at the video below of our team building their latest vehicle!

To help protect Uttlesford CT’s passengers, all of their vehicles have been specially modified to include a variety of protective screens. This idea initially came into effect during the pandemic, when we were asked to modify one of their existing vehicles. This enabled the charity to continue carrying out their vital services. Since then, Uttlesford have decided to include this extra level of protection in their latest minibus too.
